Sexsmith & District Museum Society
GRANTS
The Sexsmith & District Museum Society was awarded the Operation Staffing Grant from the Alberta Museums Association in December 2019. We sincerely thank the Alberta Museums Association for awarding us this grant. The funds were used towards staffing our summer employees.
The Sexsmith Museum received the Community Impact Grant in 2021 from the Community Foundation of Northwestern Alberta.
The monies awarded from this grant were used to fix the chimney and complete the foundation of the Greek Orthodox church. We would like to formally thank the Community Foundation of Northwestern Alberta for helping make this possible.
The elevator was cleaned in 2021, by Kris Jennings ( Zero Gravity), the protective coating applied on the
main floor in 2022, and a number of tours were conducted with the assistance of retired elevator agents
in 2023.
Portions of the project were funded by the County of Grande Prairie No. 1 through the Capital Assistance Grant Program. They are one of our major partners on this complete project.
grants awarded were 50,000 phase 1
10.000 for phase 2
It is through the support of our community that we are able to share the history of our region.
The Rotary Club of grande Prairie generously donated $50,000 to our Elevator Project in 2020.
Rotary Clubs are supportive of our museum projects, including Cash & Camping as well!
